With the upcoming major release, eXtra4-win3, the label printing application that has been in use in the jewellery and watch industry since 2015, will undergo an extensive update. The modular application from eXtra4 Software + Service GmbH, based in Birkenfeld near Pforzheim, will offer a high degree of customisability for item data in its higher editions.
Video tutorial on eXtra4-labelM1 - Software for label printing via macOS The label printing software eXtra4-labelM1 leads to the printed label with just a few clicks. Following the eXtra4 guideline "KISS - keep it small and simple", the software for Apple users is focused on printing labels for labelling jewellery and watches. As a data entry screen, eXtra4-labelM1 displays a label on the screen with all parameters already set. Without spending time on label design, the user can start data typing right away. Thanks to WYSIWYG, he can see everything immediately in print look and position. Now determine the label run and trigger printing - and the label is ready - printed with the highest precision, as the software communicates directly with the printer in its command language.
With the right care, every user can contribute to extending the life of their thermal transfer label printer. The effort is minimal. The "how" is explained by Ferdinand Eisele via video. For information, tips and tricks on labelling for the jewellery and watch industry, the identification technology specialist operates its own YouTube channel under @extra4labelling.
Video demonstration: PRIME Guard Labels - Security labels based on self-destructing material: Non-re-positionable labels with tamper proofing. PRIME-Guard labels are based on self-destructing material, the security effect of which not only prevents fraudulent reapplication of labels to goods that have already been used, but also provides unmistakable evidence of attempted tampering. An attempt to separate again the firmly adhering adhesive surfaces of the label once closed causes the adhesive film to tear in a defined structure. The label areas show a transparent triangle pattern.
As an expert in labelling jewellery and watches, Ferdinand Eisele has developed accessories that significantly improve the performance of thermal transfer printers: In order to compensate for technical differences between the label roll and the printer, the company from the Pforzheim area offers reel core adapters under its eXtra4 Labelling Systems brand, which permanently guarantee accurate printing.
Technical service has been part of the service range offered by eXtra4 Labelling Systems for over 30 years. If a device malfunction cannot be remedied remotely online or by telephone, the eXtra4 support requests affected persons to send in their printer.
eXtra4-labelM1 as label printing software is specifically designed for Mac computers, programmed in Apple settings, compatible with M processors and the latest operating system versions of Apple.
Video documentation on label combinations in production: Seven different labels combined into a block that can be marked together The challenge with the present label combination lies in the variety: both opaque white and transparent labels; both fully adhesive and with a glue-free zone; both with foldable perforations and with holes punched through the liner that cover each other symmetrically when folded.
Ideal for engagement and wedding rings thanks to round inscription areas: loop label ref. no. 95 1774IR JY1 with security plus, customisable in colour by digital printing at a fixed price
Being able to recognise manipulations at first glance and prove them beyond doubt - that is what many jewellers and goldsmiths with an online shop want, especially for high-priced pieces. This is where PRIME-Guard Labels, a new type of security label from the eXtra Labelling Systems brand, come in. The decisive plus of the labels is based on a new adhesive technology.
Video demonstration: Guard Labels - Security labels based on self-destructing material: Non-re-positionable labels made of split foil compound. When first attached, the permanent adhesive bonds the aherent label surfaces so tightly that an attempt to reopen the label will split the material into layers. The split label areas are unglued, so they do not stick and cannot be rejoined immediately. The label cannot be easily reapplied but is permanently damaged.
Video demonstration: WrapTags - high-end labels in use for jewellery. Patented label solution for higher demands The self-adhesive label has 4 sections - two opaque fields for data from the thermal transfer printer or professional logo printing in corporate design and two transparent ones that protectively cover the imprint as a laminate when the label is folded. WrapTags withstand treatment in the polishing tumbler without damage. They do not have to be removed and reattached to the matching piece, but can remain on the jewellery.
Label manufacturer Ferdinand Eisele counts the development of innovative label solutions among its core competencies. The specialist for the needs of the jewellery and watch industry has applied for a patent for WrapTags. This type of label can be printed on in the same way as standard self-adhesive labels, but then protects the imprint itself with an additional layer of foil. A tag of this line is now available from stock at eXtra4. To illustrate the application, the company from Birkenfeld near Pforzheim has published videos. They are available at www.extra4.com .
Video demonstration: Guard Labels with black light sensitive logo print. Security labels for discreet protection against label faking Logo printing is done with black light sensitive colour and can be applied to any label. It is preferably recommended in combination with other safety factors, such as self-destructing material. Other print designs are also possible.
Video demonstration: WrapTags - high-end labels in use for watches. Patented label solution for higher demands When folding a WrapTag, two transparent label layers enclose the labelling areas previously imprinted - pre-printed logo in corporate colour, individual product data via thermal transfer printer. The label is virtually wrapped into its own protective shell.
When it comes to sustainability, packaging is in the focus of critical examination. Labels are part of the packaging sector and cannot evade this. As a label manufacturer, Ferdinand Eisele GmbH is taking up the issue and is facing up to the sustainability debate with its eXtra4 Labelling Systems brand. The identification technology experts from Birkenfeld near Pforzheim, Germany, discuss the special situation for the jewellery and watch industry and point out options.

Video demonstration: A sophisticated label solution: A label with loop as carrier for a high-quality logo label A label with loop as carrier for a high-quality logo label

An insight into production and practice: The label solution shown here consists of two independently produced label parts: the carrier label is equipped with a loop and used for attachment to the jewellery. The wrapper label is made of high-quality foil compound and printed with a logo using UV-cured letterpress printing.

Label printing with data from proprietary database systems such as web shops, websites or stock management is no longer a challenge with eXtra4. The new software tool from eXtra4 Software + Service GmbH converts copied text from a computer's clipboard into print data.

Video demonstration: Printing single labels loss-free Labelling in jeweller's quality reuses the label feed Printing a single label and wasting several - this must not happen with high-quality jewelry labels. All thermal transfer printers provided by eXtra4 are capable of retracting precisely the label feed done by default after each print job.

With the new label holders, owners of an eXtra4 labelling system need only a few steps until they have a price tag ready for decoration: Select the appropriate layout, enter data or import from the database, print the label, cut off the loop and insert the folded label into the holder.
Video demonstration: Tear resistance with labels Jeweller-quality labels are strong and withstand a lot. Rip off quickly - this must not be all too easy with high-quality labels, is a jewellers' demand.
Video demonstration: Labels in Jewellers' Quality Jeweller-quality labels are resistant to ultrasonic treatment Cleaning jewellery in an ultrasonic bath without changing the label - this is what jewellers demand from high-quality jewellery labels.
"How jewellery labels with loops work is common knowledge!" – Experience has shown eXtra4 Labelling Systems to know better: Inappropriate handling is the most common cause of problems with loop labels. Now the label manufacturer from the Pforzheim area in Germany is using a video tutorial to demonstrate what is the best way to do it and what you have to pay attention to.
