However, this often results in monochrome, mostly black, low-resolution printing with little demand on durability and appearance, as long as legibility is guaranteed. Commercially available inkjet printers for monochrome printing on conventional labels are therefore not suitable for marking jewellery and watches.
High-resolution inkjet printers with 4-colour capability, on the other hand, are a real option for the demands of the jewellery and watch industry. However, they are only suitable when label material is used that allows ink droplets to drip from the surface into the label. Only then is the print smudge and scratch resistant. Even the influence of moisture and UV radiation is no longer detrimental. Ultrasound resistance can also be achieved.

Exclusive 4C Inkjet Printer Solution
We do not stock conventional inkjet printers for single-colour printing only of labels of average quality. They can hardly meet the requirements in the jewellery and watch segment.
We recommend inkjet printers as an exclusive solution for demanding users: devices for 4-colour printing with high resolution produce photo quality at an increasingly attractive price-performance ratio. In combination with special material suitable for inkjet, labels with colour motifs such as logos or photos can be produced just-in-time, even in very small print runs. Die Hitzeempfindlichkeit von Thermo-Etiketten schränkt jedoch ihre Haltbarkeit entscheidend ein. Bereits Sonneneinstrahlung oder mechanische Reibung können das Druckbild beeinträchtigen und unleserlich machen.
Thermo-Drucker werden deshalb bevorzugt dort eingesetzt, wo eine lange Lebensdauer der Etiketten nicht notwendig ist, einfache Bedienung und niedere Kosten hingegen entscheidend. Thermo-Drucker sind für Schmuck-Etiketten deshalb meist ungeeignet, für Versand-Etiketten oder Etiketten im Bereich der internen Logistik jedoch eine kostengünstige Lösung.

A thermal transfer printer transfers the color pigments from a transfer foil to the label material through pixel-fine heating elements in the print head. This results in labels with a sharp print image even with the smallest font size. If the label material and carbon ribbon are ideally matched, the print is even UV-resistant and ultrasonic-proof. Label printers of the Desktop class are small thermal transfer printers designed for work environments where space is at a premium. Mechanically and electronically solid in construction, the devices are ideally suited for the average annual requirement of a jeweller of approx. 5,000 labels.The more labels are printed, the more frequently carbon ribbon and label roll have to be changed, which costs time and effort. We therefore recommend larger thermal transfer printers from approx. 50,000 labels upwards.
